Earlier this month the yield team joined over 6000 delegates at the 2019 Australian Pharmacy Professional Conference & Trade Exhibition (APP) on the Gold Coast. APP was a great opportunity for our team to learn about the changes in the Pharmacy industry as well as mingle with some of the top performing pharmacists around Australia.
The Minister of Health, Greg Hunt, opened Conference announcing some very positive changes coming from the Government in support of Community Pharmacies:
- $800 million funding to community pharmacies with $600 million allocated to administration programs
- PBS payment schedule timeframe has been reduced from 9-16 days to 2-9 days
- $5 million Pharmacy Mental Health Trial, providing support to pharmacies to provide greater adherence to patients who are managing medications and facing mental health challenges.
- $200 million to Administration Handling Infrastructure (AHI) Fee extended through to 2023.
“There will not be vending machines replacing pharmacists and there will not be federal licenses granted for pharmacies in supermarkets” – Mr Hunt.
